This section instructs translators, proofreaders, translator checkers, and typesetters how to read Fusion's uniformed script as used in our scanlations. They are REQUIRED to understand and follow the process shown below.
Please note, the script is based on Japanese reading standards.
Thus meaning that, unless stated otherwise, the translations are based
on the manga being read from right to left, top to bottom (i.e. Bubble
1 is the bubble farthest to the right on the page and was read from the
top character down).
Denotations are as follows: [Replacing small "x" with the number of order]
Bx: Texts in bubbles (i.e. What is being said; B1, etc.)
Bx-x: Texts in linking bubbles (i.e: What is being said in bubbles that stick together; B1-1, B1-2, etc.)
BKx: Texts outside bubbles (i.e. Usually smaller text outside bubbles and near characters; BK1, etc.) SFX: Sound effects (i.e. Around the characters; denotes sound "BOOM!", "Zap!", etc.) NOTE> Translator's note. (i.e. Used by translators to clarify translations or say something amusing :P) QC> Translator checker's rephrasing / first proofreading (i.e. This is where checkers put the re-written translation) QCNOTE> Translator checkers' note (i.e. Used by proofers/checkers to clarify their proofing) QCz> Proofread script [Replace the "z" with the proofer's first initial] (i.e. This is where the proofreader puts their re-written translation) We'll start with an easy example. Please READ and EXAMINE how the script was modified. The following excerpt is from the Nagasarete Airantou c32+ script:
Final note, please make sure to leave a space between each new frame. For example:
B2: i also want a summon!
[EMPTY LINE HERE]
B1: what happen? why do you want to talk about this? got bullied by machi?
We leave a space there to tell script readers that the next translations are for the next frame.
Comparing
the original raw and translated pages of some of our releases, you should be able to get a
rough idea of how the script is written. If you have any other
questions regarding how to read our scripts, please feel to contact a member.
